we get the question all the time: “how do I know what to buy organic?”

remember, our most primary rule – choose real food first. even if it isn’t the best quality, real food is a hell of a lot better than the wrong thing – even if it’s conventional.

when buying produce, there are some items you’ll definitely want to get organic because of the toxins from pesticides and herbicides. keep in mind, it’s not about a peel or shell. pesticides and herbicides get absorbed into the plant.

every year the EWG.org comes out with a list of the dirtiest produce on the planet, based on testing for toxins. these are the dirtiest 12 items, which means that if you want to eat these, you’d probably want to choose organic:

  • strawberries
  • spinach
  • kale
  • nectarines
  • apples
  • grapes
  • peaches
  • cherries
  • pears
  • tomatoes
  • celery
  • potatoes
